THE WILLING HEART – SACRIFICIAL GIVING OF SELF - Exodus 35:4,5 And the Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the Lord commanded, saying, Take ye from among you an offering unto the Lord: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the Lord:
THE WILLING HEART is a giving heart. The Willing Heart is a heart that is willing to sacrifice for God, the house of God, the purpose of God, the will of God and others.
The willing heart is characterized by God through the hallmark scripture in the bible, John 3:16.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Through the offering up of His only son, the Father God shows us the willing heart of a sacrifice offering that was His best.
The willing heart is also seen in the life of Jesus through the prayer Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane.
Matthew 26:39-41 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and finds them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.
From these verses we see that the willing heart is a heart that is willing to sacrifice your own will for the will of God.
It is a heart that is willing
to lay down your life, your plans, your dreams and your desires for the plans, dreams and desires of God.
- The willing heart is characterized by the spirit.
- The spirit is always willing but the flesh is not.
- Therefore to have a willing heart you must have a praying spirit, and obedience to do what God tells you to do when you pray.
- Without a praying spirit a willing heart is impossible.
- Without a praying spirit you will not be able to lay down your dreams and visions for the dreams and visions of God or others.
The prayer that the willing heart prays is the prayer of consecration.
This prayer is prayed to bring the flesh under subjection, because the flesh is never willing to deny self.
