To all those that left comments on my post on the victim advocacy movement in the church being an offshoot of the Metoo movement, and being a false justice movement, in the spirit of Absalom, requesting more clarification or the source of my sentiments. Here's my heart on that post
All I'm saying is that there's a true justice movement and healthy advocacy that includes Christ and personal responsibility. And there's a false justice movement and an unhealthy advocacy that requires NOTHING of the victim. The METOO movement is false justice movement and an unhealthy advocacy movement because it doesn't require the victim to repent (change), leading the victim to Christ.
THE ADVOCACY OF ABSALOM FOR TAMAR
The account of Absalom advocating for Tamar is a picture of advocating for victims gone wrong.
2Sa 13:28 Now Absalom had commanded his servants, saying, Mark ye now when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say unto you, Smite Amnon; then kill him, fear not: have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant. 29 And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man gat him up upon his mule, and fled.
Because Absalom could not wait for the proper advocacy through the channels of the King, He took matters into his own hands. And because He disagreed with David's handling of his sister Tamar's rape, He not only handled Ammon in an equally unjust manner, He eventually rebelled against David, the King. And he overthrew David to make himself king. This is a picture of victim advocacy that was not brought through the proper channels, that ended in offense, rebellion, and death.
Any social justice movement in society that does not originate or lead people to Christ is a setup for the Anti-Christ. Human sentimentality will deceive & lead many to join the Anti-Christ humanists false justice movement. This is why I believe the victim advocacy movement in the Body looks spiritual but its not God. Because it often uses the Metoo playbook, becoming an offshoot with a spirit of Absalom.
Social Justice and Biblical Justice are not the same. We must be careful embracing any justice movements that are not rooted in grounded in Christ and His justice.
SOCIAL JUSTICE
The mission of social justice, according to Jill Fagan, requires resource equity, fairness and respect for diversity, as well as the eradication of existing forms of social oppression (with Christianity being an existing form of that social oppression).
She defines social justice as entailing a redistribution of resources from those who have unjustly gained them, to those who justly deserve them. In her definition, it also means creating and ensuring the processes of the truly democratic participation in the decision-making processes.
To accomplish this mission of social justice, Firstly, (1) I must identify disadvantaged groups, secondly, (2) assess group outcomes, and thirdly, (3) assign blame for disparate outcomes. If we see disparate outcomes, we must assign blame. And then finally (4) redistribute power and resources to redress those grievances. This is the mission of social justice. This is NOT the mission of biblical justice. This is antithetical to the mission of biblical justice. The mission of Biblical Justice is the establishment of the following of the biblical laws of God from the law written on the hearts of men.
THE HOLY TRINITY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE
How does Jill Fagan and this generation of social justice warriors accomplish this mission of social Justice? First, you must identify disadvantaged groups. There is a holy trinity of social justice, in this movement of social justice – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. This is the holy trinity of social justice.
Diversity has to do with identifying the disparate groups (and these groups continue to multiply). And as the movement of social justice and disadvantaged groups gain more momentum there are advantages to be gained by belonging to these groups.
Equity has to do with outcomes. Inclusion is the way we pursue the equal access of all these diverse groups in whatever system we are establishing. So, first social justice focuses on the identification of disadvantaged groups. And by the way, if White, male, heterosexual, cis-gendered, able-bodied, Christian, is the Hegemony, or oppressor, then who are the oppressed? If White is the oppressor, non-white is the oppressed. If male is the oppressor, non-male is the oppressed. If heterosexual is the oppressor, non-heterosexual is the oppressed. If cis-gendered is the oppressor, non-cis-gendered is the oppressed. If Christianity is the oppressor, non-Christians are the oppressed, and so on and so forth. Diversity looks at all these groups and identifies as many of these groups as possible and says, our goal is to have the inclusion of as many as these groups as we possibly can.
INTERSECTIONALITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
This is where intersectionality comes in. Because intersectionality is the idea that you multiply oppression to the degree that you multiply participation in oppressed groups.
If a black man is oppressed, a black female is doubly oppressed, because she has two intersections of oppression. If she is a black female, transgender, now she adds a third intersection of oppression. If she is black, female, transgendered, not able bodied, she adds a fourth intersection of oppression. Where this gets interesting is, that intersectionality is of great benefit to those pursuing the holy trinity of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Because I can either try to find one member of ten, fifteen, twenty groups, or I can multiply points in one fell swoop, by getting someone who’s a member of multiple groups.
....All I'm saying is that there's a difference between the justice of the METOO movement, which gives victims the courage to come out and talk about their abuse but is not redemptive, and the justice that comes from OUR ADVOCATE Jesus Christ, who brings healing, deliverance, vindication and restoration and is redemptive.
The METOO movement is a false justice movement because it doesn't lead the victim to Christ.
It's no different than those that are Gay or Trans coming out of the closet. Those who come out usually confess that they were victims of sexual abuse when they were younger. They feel better when they come out, but because they have never been introduced to the Justice of Jesus, there's no lasting peace, healing, or freedom. The standard is lowered for them to embrace who they are as a result of what happened to them either as an adolescent or in the womb....
But because they have come out, they are supported, they are validated, they are pitied, but none of this helps them long term to get free. Because no one requires them to do anything more than COME OUT. No one requires them to go on to Jesus' justice that can bring a renewal or restoration to their original self.
Therefore, it becomes a false justice movement. Any social justice movement that does not lead victims to Christ will eventually lead victims to the Anti-Christ. It's all a setup for Anti Christs' false justice movement.
Oftentimes, the victim advocacy movement is a movement of limited justice, if Christ, repentance and healing is not introduced to the victim as the answer...not the limited justice that the advocate can bring....but if there's no change in the life of the victim, It may make the advocate feel better about helping someone who was victimized, but in the long run, it does more harm to the victim than good because it requires NOTHING of the victim......How do I know this? Because I lived it....I experienced it and saw it firsthand as a Black person, in my communities growing up, we've always been considered victims. Black people have been given that victim card ALL my life. AFTER A WHILE I REFUSED TO TAKE IT....I REFUSED TO BE A VICTIM.
And I will not be advocated for by victim advocates (White People who feel sorry for me, for what happened to me or our people). Because I saw what it did to my community, what it tried to do to me. It took all the responsibility from us having to change and do anything different for ourselves. And it put the responsibility upon those who misused us, abused us, and mistreated us to heal us. White people can't heal Black people. White people can't give us reparations. They can't repair us. Only God can repair us. Only God can heal us. Because our problem went back further than slavery. Our problem was a God problem. We left God....Even if we were given reparations, WHAT WOULD WE DO WITH IT?
Because we were never required to take ANY responsibility for our lives since that time we were placed upon us that label of a victim, we have less success and productivity in society than all other people groups, that have been through pain, tragedy, or abuse, because we've been looking for people to heal us rather than us being a part of that process of healing, by taking some personal responsibility. Because this has not been required of us, our communities, by in large, are communities full of the victim syndrome, always looking for someone else to do something for us, without requiring anything of ourselves.
Once I realized that the Justice of Jesus could bring me from being a victim to being a victor, by bringing healthy advocacy into my life that puts requirements on me to change and take personal responsibility, I came up out of my shame, my offense and hatred of White people, and most of all MY LAZY, INACTIVE, PARALYZED Lifestyle.
You wouldn't have liked me before Christ. You would have felt sorry for me and guilty and probably tried the false victim advocacy route so many white people do for blacks out of guilt. But there wouldn't have been any success with me because I wouldn't have had any personal responsibility to live any different than what I was living before the advocacy.
It saddens me where the Body of Christ is because we are following false movements of justice instead of leading with Christ as our head.
