Day 23 – 40 Days of Blowing the Shofar
Blow the trumpet in Zion and sound the alarm. The sound of the shofar is a call to worship for the righteous, the lukewarm and even the unrighteous. It is blast to wake you up.
Hearing the Sound to go Up to Jerusalem
I was glad when they said to me, “Let’s go to the house of the Lord.” Our feet are standing Within your gates, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that has been built As a city that is firmly joined together; To which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord— An ordinance for Israel— To give thanks to the name of the Lord.
Psalms 122:1-4
Todays blowing of the Shofar comes from Psalm 122:1-4 leading us up to Jerusalem to give thanks unto the Lord. As we've entered the Fall Feast season of Tabernacles, it's time to start turning our gaze towards the city of the great King, Jerusalem. David writes about Jerusalem, calling the whole city the House of the Lord, as he extols the Joy in His heart for this feast season, as all the tribes of Israel prepare to take a journey up to Jerusalem to give thanks to the name of the Lord. Zechariah tells us that in that day (of the millennial reign of Jesus) all nations will come up to Jerusalem from year to year to worship the King during the feast of Tabernacles. Today as we hear the sound of the trumpet, let's prepare our hearts in 3 ways to be turned towards Jerusalem;
1.PRAYER, Psa 122:6 (Pray for the peace of Jerusalem)
2. SACRIFICE - Deut 16:16,17 (Everyone shall go up to Jerusalem in the Feasts to give a special offering to the Lord, as he is able, in accordance with the blessing of the Lord your God which He has given you).
3. PILGRIMAGE - (Isaiah 2:2 Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob, there will He teach us His ways)
And many peoples will come and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; So that He may teach us about His ways, And that we may walk in His paths.” For the law will go out from Zion And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
