40 Days of Blowing the Shofar
Day 21 – 40 Days of Blowing the Shofar
Shevarim (pronounced sh-VAW-reem), is a tekiah broken into three one-second segments. The sound of the shevarim means “broken ones” or “breakings.” This hints to the breakthrough God has for us especially during the appointed fall season of Trumpets, Yom Kippur and Sukkot. It’s a reminder of ‘teshuvah,’ when we return to God and fulfill the potential we have in Him. It’s a time to examine ourselves in how we are treating our relationship with God and with others. The Lord wants to help us break free from negativity, selfishness and any hardness of ego and pride. When the shofar is sounded as a weapon of our warfare it will begin to scatter these and other enemies and begin to release a powerful spiritual breakthrough in our lives. This is always accompanied by a return to tzedakah-when we reach out to others with acts of kindness, benevolence and blessing.
“Do not call to mind the former things, Or consider things of the past. Behold, I am going to do something new, Now it will spring up; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18-19
Todays blowing of the Shofar comes from Isaiah 43:18, 19 As we enter the Feast of Rosh Hashanah. Rosh Hashanah means the HEAD OF THE YEAR. God is bringing us into a New Season. We're leaving the Shmita Year of 5782 and entering into the new 7 year cycle of 5783. As we do, God wants to DO A NEW THING in our lives. The prophet Isaiah gives us 3 steps to your NOW SEASON FOR NEW THINGS.
1. Remember NOT the Former things
2. LET GO of the Old things.
3 BEHOLD the New.
Before we can receive the NEW we must let go of the Old, Remember not the former, in order to Behold the New. We need to ask God "HELP ME TO REPENT from the Old and SHOW ME THE NEW."
Over the next 10 days of the 10 DAYS OF AWE, this will be our prayer...GIVE ME GRACE TO REPENT, AND SHOW ME THE NEW
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you,
