40 Days of Blowing the Shofar
TONIGHT is Rosh Hashanah, translated “the head of the year”, the Feast of Trumpets, and the beginning of the New Year 5783 on God’s calendar. My spirit is full of anticipation and I pray yours is as well as I send this to you! It’s the time of the shofar blast reminding us of the beginning of God’s High Holy Days – the start of His fall feast season at sundown, awakening our souls prayerfully to deep spiritual reflection.
Friend, it is in this supernatural season— “God’s Holiest Season,” when your opportunity to come alongside Israel and the Jewish people in this New Year 5783 WILL BE MANIFESTED… and I am believing blessing and abundance will be poured out over your life... and in fact, I declare over you “L’Shanah Tovah U’metukah” in Hebrew… “May you have a good and sweet year”!
Are you ready for it?
Also, do NOT forget to send me your prayer request (you can click the link right here as we are leaving several weeks from now in the month of October, and I am taking your prayer requests with me to Israel for our annual Israel Mandate Pilgrimage to Jerusalem. This evening at sundown on Rosh Hashanah, the shofar will sound and issue a clarion call for Israel to gather for God’s word of redemption and the beginning of the “10 Days of Awe” (Yamim Nora’im), 10 days of personal repentance, asking those we have wronged for forgiveness, and soul-searching before the LORD leading up to His holiest day, October 5th, which is Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement.
“You shall have a rest, a reminder by the blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD” (Leviticus 23:24-25 NASB).
This holy season was a time for Israel to harvest their fields and bring a “first fruits” offering to the Lord. These Jewish High Holy Days are times, mo’edim, divine appointments that God still has marked on His calendar to meet with you!
Friend, God commanded His people to honor these “holy days” forever, as an everlasting covenant with Him. They are His Holy Days! God underscores the importance of this time of the year in Leviticus 23:2:
“The feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are My feasts.”
He continues, “…these are the LORD’s appointed festivals, the official days for holy assembly that are to be celebrated at their proper times each year” (Leviticus 23:4).
God commanded His people in Exodus 23, in Exodus 34, and in Deuteronomy 16: Three times a year you shall ‘mark your calendars’ and celebrate a feast before the LORD your God…at the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Passover); the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost); and the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot or Booths) … including the Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur that falls in His holy fall feast season between Trumpets and Tabernacles.
Right now, as we approach God’s New Year, 5783, may we look inside ourselves with a humble heart… and let’s prepare and do what God desires from each of us… to approach Him with reflection and a contrite or penitent heart!
This is also a time for us to bring a special offering to the Lord! In Proverbs 3:9-10 Solomon wrote,
“Honor the Lord with your substance, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.”
God promises in His Word to bless us when we honor Him with the resources that He has placed in our hands. Whether our income is large or small, God has commanded us to honor Him with it.
He then reminds us in Deuteronomy 16:16,17 concerning this feast season:
“No one should appear before the Lord empty-handed. Each of you must bring a gift in proportion to the way your God has blessed you.”
Our obedience ACTIVATES God’s promises. I believe that for the entire year 5783 on God’s calendar, what we’re doing during God’s High Holy Days this year carries tremendous spiritual significance…
And you are doing SO MUCH MORE than simply observing a holiday on the calendar – the ministry of Hope for the Nations is a global movement ushering in the glory and presence of God to awaken the nations to prayer and the coming of the Lord. Friend, because of your obeying God and giving, you are helping us make such a difference in Israel, in America, and around the world for souls in desperate need of our Savior!

Here is the Day 18 devotional Scripture again
Day 18: in unison when the trumpeters and the singers were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify the Lord, and when they raised their voices accompanied by trumpets, cymbals, and other musical instruments, and when they praised the Lord saying, “He indeed is good for His kindness is everlasting,” then the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud,
