Many have asked my thoughts about the latest political firestorm with the impeachment proceedings, and the President's latest remarks suggesting a Representative who voted for his impeachment, that her husband who died less than a year ago is in Hell looking up at all that is going on.
As far as the impeachment proceedings go, depending on how you view President Trump most likely determines how you see the impeachment proceedings and whether or not he did something that was impeachable or not. Seeing that many in Congress have been crying out for his impeachment since Pres Trump won the 2016 election, for offenses that have been levied against him, from Collusion with Russia, to Obstruction, and on and on, with none of them sticking, it's not surprising that we are at this juncture in history with the possible impeachment of President Trump, if Speaker Pelosi actually files the impeachment articles.
As for me, as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ with a responsibility to be Bi-partisan in praying for those in authority, while also been involved in the political process and policies that affect our country, (praying for the peace of the nation) I'm a citizen of, I must confess it has been difficult to pray and not develop thoughts and feelings that hinder my responsibility to pray for those in authority. But one thing I've learned about prayer is you cant pray for someone you are disparaging in anyway with your words, and you can't disparage anyone with your words you are consistently praying for.
While I pray for the President and stand against this partisan impeachment fiasco, I also must publicly decry and denounce behavior and words that are anti Christ when they are seen and blatantly spoken in the public square.
If not, we all fall susceptible to adding our agreement to him as an infallible cult leader that is attempting to redefine the faith and standards of our savior... no different from Christ following Gay and Lesbian couples, coming out in the public discourse to attempt to legitimize the marriage between a man and a man and a woman and a woman as a behavior that Christ and every believer in Christ must accept as an acceptable Christian practice.
If we don't speak up and out against such behavior, any behavior, that is not Christ like, we not only make him (anyone) feel he (they) have a pass, and this behavior is ok, but we embolden the whole of Christianity in this or any behavior that is Anti-Christ.
As for the statement of taking the beam out of our own eyes...Righteous judgment requires us ALL to judge ourselves before we attempt to judge others, and this is how we are sure to see clearly to judge any behavior that is PUBLICLY seen as against the cross of Christ, with the potential to bring harm to His cause. But we DON'T do this to expose someone or something, that is in sin or sinful, but to challenge a change of behavior (repentance) and good fruit in the one whose fruit is already PUBLICLY revealed and shown as being bad fruit.
This judgment is necessary only for those whose fruit is contrary to the root. Not to expose something that is not already clearly publicly seen as against the root. If we are unwilling to Judge our own behavior we are disqualified in judging anyone else's behavior. If we do judge our own behavior we are duty bound to do the same for our brother/sister, for their benefit, not ours. We must not do so to defend Christ....He needs no defense...But so that we and those that are judged are able to see their need to repent and produce good fruit.
President Trump needs to Repent for anything that he does that is clearly seen as Sin. And as his Christian Base if we are not willing to bring to his attention our disdain and disagreement with those things that he does that doesn't line up with the faith he claims to follow, defend and uphold, he is no longer a representative of the causes of Christ but a contradiction and a confliction with those causes, thereby negating the witness of ALL believers that support or follow his political agenda.
WE CAN STAND WITH HIM WHILE STANDING AGAINST HIS BEHAVIOR, just as we would those that are in our families that behave contrary to the values they've been taught. Just as we would any fallen Christian leader. And we must if we are to uphold the leader as a follower of Christ. Otherwise we could be the impetus of that leader leading a whole other movement that does not represent the teachings or values of Christ, which is called a cult.
